Jack grew up with music at the heart of it all. His Mom studied as a concert pianist in college, and his sister did the same and teaches piano. After the formative years of piano lessons, he learned to play guitar from his brother and picked up bass along the way, debuting as a singer-songwriter at his 8th grade talent show in Caribou, Maine.
Jack has always played in duos or groups, with the occasional solo thing. His first duo was The Superstraights in the 60's in high school. He was a songwriter and rhythm guitarist in original rock bands The Tongues and Early Man in San Francisco in the 70's and 80's, followed by another duo BudMusic in the Boston area. He has been the bass player for the North Shore Massachusetts based group Whose Muddy Shoes since the 90's, playing all forms of Americana from folk noir to swing to blues.
Influenced by roots and folk music of the 60’s, Jack wrote his first song at the age of 12, and has continued to write through periods of folk-rock, alternative rock, pop, classical guitar, renaissance lute, and combinations of all of it. Throughout, Jack has collaborated with writing partners, most recently with a Berklee classmate, Elif Vaizaglu from Turkey, for the song Even So, the title cut of his forthcoming EP.
Jack works with other songwriters to produce and mix their demos in a streaming-friendly format, adding instruments, vocals and effects to enhance the song.
After decades of home studio recording and mixing, Jack recently completed a certificate program at Berklee College focusing on the arts of mixing, writing and producing using the most current computer-based tools.
